On 2nd September 2017, in collaboration with Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP), MAWAQIF QATAR launched its first socially responsible team-building event around a beach clean-up at Sealine Beach, Qatar. On the second day of Eid Al-Adha, 42 Mawaqif Qatar employees participated as volunteers in a fun, purposeful afternoon at the beach. There was an estimated 20,000 people on the beach and we collected around 40 grocery-size bags of trash from the shore. The Mawaqif Qatar team has made a difference by reducing pollution and helping to preserve our environment. The aim of the clean up was to protect species like turtles, birds, and fish by preventing them from eating items such as plastic lids and bags that could harm or kill them. Jeanne Brown, founder of the DEAP, applauded Mawaqif Qatar's efforts, “The team completed the clean-up in record time and with a great spirit!" Thank you to all that joined in.
